Xbox 360 The Beatles: Rock Band - Software Only Review

I think this is a great game for Beatles fans. I was particularly impressed with the colorful visuals. I only have two relatively small complaints.

First, I wished they allowed players the option of using a 360 controller during the songs. Now I know most of you will say that this is pointless because it takes away from the gaming experience, but people like me aren't big fans of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series in general - nothing against them. I'm just not that great with their instruments.

I was really interested in this game because of The Beatles, but I didn't want to shell out money for a guitar or drum set just to try the game out. If I was able to play the songs with a 360 controller, I might have considered purchasing an instrument later on. As it was, I was limited to the microphone. However, people who lack instruments and microphones can't do jack with the game, which I think is ridiculous.

Bottom line: People need options.

Secondly, I was disappointed to find out that they didn't have a music video section just for viewing. I watched the previews to this game on Xbox Live, so I was mostly interested in just watching The Beatles play songs like "Here Comes The Sun" and "Taxman". It would have been awesome if players could arrange a playlist of music videos, with basic features like "Random" and "Repeat". I would've loved to watched them in my living room at night with the lights out, but I didn't see that option. :-/

Oh well. I still think it's a great game overall. q:-DGet more detail about Xbox 360 The Beatles: Rock Band - Software Only.
