I was one of the first adopters for the Wii when it first came out. The WiiMotes (Wii Remote) were plain and had no silicone jackets on them. I remember buying some generic silicone covers to protect them. I was glad to see that Nintendo started to provide the WiiMotes like this and even sold the Wii MotionPlus with the silicone jacket.
Keep in mind that you will want to look for games that have a MotionPlus symbol to get the rumble affect out of it. I imagine that more games in the future will be Wii MotionPlus enabled.
Here is my most recent scenario of using the Wii MotionPlus add-on.
Game: EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis
Accessory: Wii Thrustmaster Motion Plus Tennis Duo Pack NW
The Grand Slam Tennis Wii game has another dimension when you add the MotionPlus "plug" to the bottom of the remote. They can actually be removed from the silicone jacket easily and placed in the bottom of the remote when it goes into another accessory. The MotionPlus adds the typical rumble effect and is supposed to be more sensitive to movement and position. I think this is right on! The Grand Slam Wii Tennis game is NOT EASY to begin with (not like the Wii Sports tennis). This game takes some getting used to and some skill. It is my hypothesis that the MotionPlus adds to this realism.
Lots of fun and definitely one of those items you want to consider having at least two of in your Wii accessory kit. I will be seeking more games that use MotionPlus and will try them out. It adds another dimension to the Wii that just makes the Wii that much more fun and accessible for those of us who find some of the other consoles more complicated (gaming challenged).
5 Stars!
