I wasn't prepared for how loud the console would be when playing a game. This console doesn't include a hard drive so when you play a game the DVD player goes crazy with all kinds of whirring and grinding noises. From some reviews I've read online the solution is to copy the game to the hard drive which is included in the more expensive models and available as an add-on to this model. Complaints about the noise from the fan are also common but the noise from the fan was a soft whisper compared to the DVD player.
I am returning the 360 after only a few hours of playing a game. I will either buy the Elite model with a hard drive or perhaps look at the PS3. In either case, a trip to the mall where I can actually see and hear the units in action is in order. Get more detail about Xbox 360 Arcade.
